Manuel Antonio National Park is located on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. It possesses a richness and diversity of flora and fauna sometimes equaled, but never exceeded, in this country and in all of Central America. Moreover, many of the region’s species are endemic, rare or even new to science -being discovered and described only now. Manuel Antonio is widely renown for its beautiful, vegetation-fringed beaches, abundant and particularly visible visible animal life and majestic scenery. This field guide contains an extensive introductory section, with information about natural history and ecology of the region, among other aspects. The second part presents the description of each of the 141 species treated in the book, illustrated by the Guatemalan artist Thelma Carrera. It also contains an annex with full color photographs.
